Jessica Sandler, PETA's VP for Regulatory Testing talks about how 20 years ago she came to PETA to lead a one person fight to modernize government regulatory testing. Her work has meant millions of lab animals' lives have been spared.

Regulatory testing is different from the testing done by research labs at universities like Texas A&M. Any research done with animals have questionable relevance to humans.

But fighting unnecessary research to meet government regulations calls for hard science and data.

Sandler's department now has 15 scientists tasked with coming up with alternatives to methods that date back to the early 1900s.

Sandler talks about how the EPA has turned around. But how it continues to be a struggle with environmentalists who have a blind spot on animal rights.

Find out about envirnonmentalists' record on animal rights.

Sandler also talks about how PETA had a bunny stalk then-Vice President Al Gore. It was the key on saving hundreds of thousands of animal lives.
