A mouse burst into flames in an experiment gone bad. Animals were left without water. Monkeys and guinea pigs badly neglected. Violations of animal welfare guidelines. And the culprit was the lab at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NIH not only funds scientific research around the country, it has its own labs in the Washington, DC area. PETA was forced to use the Freedom of Information Act and uncovered dozens of violations at NIH, which insists on doing outdated animal experiments even though it produces no benefit to humans. It's time for a change. The head man at NIH, Dr. Francis Collins, must resign now.

PETA VP for Laboratory Investigations, Dr. Alka Chandna talks to Emil Guillermo about NIH and what PETA uncovered using the Freedom of Information Act.
