The Coronavirus national emergency in the U.S. has one major animal rights silver lining. The race to a vaccine was sped along by skipping long required animal tests that are cruel and unnecessary. PETA--which has fought for more than 20 years to end regulatory animal testing--sees it clearly as a significant acknowledgement that animal test requirements are useless roadblocks to progress. NIH's Dr. Anthony Fauci announced the vaccine trial began in Seattle on Monday without delay and in record time.

PETA's Jeff Brown talked to Emil Guillermo about the significance of the vaccine test going straight to humans without the need for required animal testing.

And now the question is, does this mean a new normal of animal free regulatory testing?
